Any of these devices can run a PulseLAN server — and the device on the other end of the test only needs a browser. Android is on Google Play; the iPhone listing is still in review, and every platform below can also be installed directly. Here is the honest state of each.

Android

On Google Play — or install the APK directly if you prefer.

Direct-install steps (sideload)

Android blocks apps from outside the Play Store until you allow install unknown apps for whichever app is doing the installing: Settings → Apps → your browser → Install unknown apps. Then open the downloaded file and confirm.

A direct APK is signed with our own key rather than Google’s, so Android treats it as a different app from the Play build. If you already have this one installed you will need to uninstall it first before you can install the Play version, and it will not receive Play updates.

iPhone

Coming to the App Store — sideload the build in the meantime.

Sideload steps

iOS cannot install an .ipa on its own. Use Sideloadly or AltStore on a computer, sign in with a free Apple ID, and install the file onto your connected iPhone.

On a free Apple ID the installed app is re-signed onto your device and expires about every 7 days, so it has to be re-installed (or refreshed by AltStore) until the App Store version is live.

Windows

Installer works today; the signature isn’t Microsoft-certified yet, so SmartScreen will warn.

The installer is self-signed but not yet certified by Microsoft, so Windows SmartScreen will warn — click More info → Run anyway. On Windows 11 with Smart App Control on, you may need to turn it off for this install, or wait for our Microsoft Store release (coming), which removes the warning.

macOS

Not notarized yet, so Gatekeeper warns on first launch. A notarized release is coming.

On first launch, right-click the app → OpenOpen to get past Gatekeeper’s “unidentified developer” warning. That’s only needed once.
