When a file copy crawls, the usual reflex is to run an internet speed test. But that test never touches the link that’s slow.

The result is dominated by your internet plan and your provider’s network. It says almost nothing about how fast your laptop can talk to your NAS in the next room.

The traffic stays inside your network. The result is your Wi-Fi, your cabling, your switch, your access point placement — the things you can actually fix.

That difference is the whole product. A 100 GB backup to your NAS takes about 45 minutes at 300 Mbps and about 15 at 900 — and only a device-to-device number tells you which one you have. Walk the house with your phone testing against a wired desktop, and the room where throughput collapses is located rather than guessed. Neither question has an answer on the internet side of the router.

How it works

Two of your devices, one honest number: each throughput phase runs four parallel connections over a fixed window with the TCP warm-up excluded, so what you read is the link and not the ramp-up.

Start a server anywhere

Open PulseLAN on any device — phone, PC, or Mac — and tap Start. It listens on port 52520 and announces itself on your network. No dedicated hardware, no command line.

Test from anything

Another PulseLAN app finds the server automatically. Or point any browser at the address on the server’s screen — the server hosts its own test page, so the second device installs nothing.

Read the result

Download, upload, ping, and jitter between those two devices, plus a plain-language verdict. Results are kept in on-device history (the most recent 500) so you can compare before and after changes.
